Journey back to 1651. Christina of Sweden, a powerful queen, commissions a detailed map. This map, a tapestry of territories and towns, marks a small village: Rehsböstel. Today, we know this village as Regesbostel, a charming municipality nestled in Lower Saxony, Germany. Regesbostel is more than just a name on a map. It’s a community woven from the threads of history, geography, and vibrant local life. Regesbostel isn’t a sprawling metropolis. It’s a place where the rhythm of life moves at a more deliberate pace. As of December 31, 2023, this tranquil haven is home to 1075 residents. They are spread across an area of 16.34 square kilometers. This gives Regesbostel a population density of 66 people per square kilometer. Regesbostel is part of the Samtgemeinde Hollenstedt, a collective of municipalities working together. The village itself comprises three distinct sections: Regesbostel, Holtorfsbostel, and Rahmstorf. Within these sections lie the smaller localities of Regesbostel, Holtorfsbostel, Holtorfer Heide, and Rahmstorf, each contributing to the unique character of the municipality. The coat of arms of Regesbostel tells a silent story of its rich past. Divided into three sections representing its main parts, it proudly displays a golden three-knob fibula. This ancient artifact, unearthed from a burial ground near Rahmstorf, whispers tales of early settlement in the area, dating back to the 5th or 6th century. Regesbostel is a community deeply rooted in its traditions. The local government operates democratically. The eleven members of the municipal council are elected every five years. The Freie Wählergemeinschaft Regesbostel (FWGR) and the Wählergemeinschaft Regesbostel (WGR) are key political forces within the community. They represent the voices of the people in local governance. Regesbostel embraces a strong sense of community. It’s reflected in the various public institutions that serve its residents.
