In 1995, a new chapter began in the story of Geumsang Elementary School. It officially opened its doors as Geumsang National Elementary School. Today, we stand before Geumsang Elementary School in Seongnam, South Korea. Let’s delve into its history. Geumsang Elementary School’s motto, “Brighten yourself. Refine yourself. Vigorously act,” speaks to its commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals. The school believes in fostering creativity, self-reliance, and a proactive spirit in its students. Geumsang Elementary School was established under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. The first principal was Kim Chae-ho. Initially known as Geumsang Elementary School under the Seongnam Office of Education, it transitioned to Geumsang Elementary School under the Gyeonggi-do Office of Education. This change reflects the school’s evolving role within the larger educational landscape. The school underwent significant expansion and development. In 1995, it expanded to 23 classes. In 1996, it further grew to 31 classes upon its renaming as Geumsang Elementary School. By March 1, 1997, it had 33 classes. It expanded again to 34 classes in 1998 and 38 classes by March 1999. The continuous growth reflects the increasing demand for quality education in the area. Geumsang Elementary School has a history of continuous improvement. The school completed its fourth construction project in 2000. It finished its sixth construction project in 2002. The school adjusted its layout in 2006. It modernized its facilities with the renovation of the science lab in 2007 and the establishment of an artificial turf field in October 2008. These ongoing efforts demonstrate Geumsang Elementary School’s dedication to providing a modern and enriching learning environment. As of August 31, 2024, Geumsang Elementary has a vibrant student body of 554 students across 22 classes. The school employs 28 teachers, one principal, one vice-principal, one general affairs officer, 23 administrative staff, and other personnel totaling 52. Geumsang Elementary School stands as a testament to its dedication to education.
