In 1993, a beacon of faith arose in Brunei. This beacon was Masjid Kampong Bunut. It stands as a testament to the rich religious heritage of the community. Masjid Kampong Bunut is located within the vibrant Kampung Bunut, nestled in the heart of Brunei-Muara District. This mosque holds a significant place in the lives of the locals. It serves as a hub for prayer, community gatherings, and religious education. The construction of Masjid Kampong Bunut commenced in December 1991, under the 6th National Development Plan. The project, funded by the Government of Brunei, cost over B$2.5 million. Its inauguration on July 16, 1993, by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah marked a momentous occasion for the community. The mosque’s ability to accommodate between 1,000 and 1,500 worshippers reflects its importance as a central gathering place. Masjid Kampong Bunut’s architecture showcases a blend of traditional Islamic design elements and modern influences. The spacious prayer hall provides a serene atmosphere for worshippers to connect with their faith. Intricate geometric patterns and calligraphy adorn the walls, adding to the mosque’s aesthetic beauty. The mosque also features a minaret, a tall slender tower, from which the call to prayer is amplified, resonating throughout the surrounding area. Masjid Kampong Bunut stands as a symbol of unity and devotion for the people of Kampung Bunut. It serves as a reminder of their shared faith and strengthens their bond as a community.
