Haven’t you heard of a space where emotions are crafted into art? That place is the Lucid Body House. It is located at 230 Lexington Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. This is where the physical actor finds a home in New York City.

The Lucid Body House is more than just an acting and dance studio. It is a haven for human research and theatrical experiments. Fay Simpson, the founder, envisioned a space where muses and minds cohabitate. She wanted a space that purges human emotions and crafts them into art. This art then moves the emotions of others.

Fay Simpson hopes that the Lucid Body House will be like a river. It whisks away the old and brings new life. With the right teachers and brave students, the space becomes a home. Finding is never enough here. Seeking is all. Every corner reveals a new challenge. Every knowing is followed by the humility of not knowing more.

The Lucid Body House unequivocally condemns violence and hatred. It stands against the structural inequality embedded in political, economic, and religious systems. It also addresses the biases embedded in our bodies. The goal is to ensure a safe space for every student and artist. The Lucid Body House honors a code to never cause harm.

Just two months before its opening, the raw concrete room began to take shape. Every wall needed more insulation, drywall, primer, and paint. Then came the Venetian plaster, color, grouting, lighting, sound, tile, and slate. Fay Simpson loves the slate.

The Lucid Body House offers various classes and workshops. These are taught by Fay Simpson and her trained teachers. Guest teachers whose work aligns with the Lucid Body also rent the space. Classes include Lucid Body Basics, III, Advanced Text, Scene Study, and Mask. There are also Devising Workshops.

Newcomers can start with Lucid Body Basics or a Master Class with Fay Simpson. Current students can refresh their basics or attend advanced classes. Online courses are also available for streaming. These include an Intro to Lucid Body Online Course and Lucid Body Flow.

The Lucid Body is a holistic training method. It is based on the belief that self-knowledge is crucial for acting. Drawing from Carl Jung’s theories, the training explores persona and shadow. This helps students understand why they are the way they are.

You can also listen to the Lucid Body Podcast. Fay Simpson discusses the integration of the body’s wisdom into daily life. Topics include physical communication skills and balancing chakra centers. She also talks about the importance of emotional flow for health and well-being.

The Lucid Body Teacher Training is an apprenticeship program. Apprentices work closely with Fay Simpson and a mentor. They assist and observe workshops. They also participate in group training intensives and complete coursework.

There is also a book named The Lucid Body: A Guide for the Physical Actor. It is a step-by-step program that guides actors through self-awareness. This expands their emotional and physical range.

The Lucid Body House is a community. Teachers from around the world teach and create here. Fay Simpson envisions the Lucid Body going beyond her vision. She sees it evolving into an exceptional future of healing and outreach.
