Mills Road Baptist Church

The Mills Road Baptist Church is more than just a building. It’s a legacy. Pastor Larry Newcomer founded this church as a mission church back in 1974. It was planted in the Landmark Baptist tradition, but Pastor Newcomer underwent a theological reformation that led him to embrace the Doctrines of Grace and a biblical, historically Protestant, ecclesiology. Under his leadership, the church went through many challenges but remained dedicated to preaching God’s word and growing in Christ. Fast forward to 2014. His son, Kyle Newcomer, became the church’s Preaching Pastor. This church has strong ties to other local churches: in the spring of 2017, Mills Road Baptist Church joined forces with Covenant Church of Spring, sharing their conviction of better serving their community as one church. Although they were planted in different times and had their own histories, they shared the same goal: to be a shining light for the gospel in Northwest Houston, reaching people with the word of God and helping Christians grow in their faith. They formed Christ Our Savior Baptist Church, but in 2024, the church decided to change its name to Klein Baptist Church. Today, as you stand here in front of the Mills Road Baptist Church, you’re looking at a building rich with history, dedication, and the spirit of faith. The church’s foundation is built on the legacy of the Newcomers, who have been a driving force of the church for decades. It stands as a testament to the unwavering commitment of those who sought to spread the word of God and build a strong Christian community, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of countless people.
