Asia Baptist Church

Standing right here, on Sere Street, is the Asia Baptist Church, a true beacon of faith and community in New Orleans. Started in 1923 at another location, Asia Baptist Church shifted to Gibson Street in 1938. You wouldn’t believe the dedication that went into building this church. They raised funds and dedicated their time to create a sanctuary that would stand the test of time. The church moved to its current location on Sere Street in 1974, though the building itself wasn’t brand new; it was built in 1923! Asia Baptist Church went through several remodels, even one in 1963, after a move, but never had to be completely rebuilt. The new church was renovated in 1973 and 1974. That’s pretty impressive for a church that survived the hardships of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, right? Most churches had to start from scratch, but not Asia Baptist Church. After only a few months of renovation, they were back to their services, even opening their doors to other congregations struggling to rebuild. Since then, Asia Baptist Church has been a pillar of the community, offering hope through various programs, including a day care center and affordable housing opportunities.
