A C-shaped building stands before you. This is Cheong Kun Lun College. It’s more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a vibrant hub of activity.
Cheong Kun Lun College opened in 2016 on the Hengqin campus. It’s the newest residential college at the University of Macau. The college honors Mr Cheong Kun Lun a Macao entrepreneur and community benefactor. His family endowed the college.
The college is housed in Building W34. The building has stairs and elevators in each corner. The ground floor offers a mini-library a dining hall and various function rooms. These include study rooms meeting rooms a TV room a music room a gym and a laundry. There’s even a vendor machine zone. The dining hall isn’t just for meals. It hosts other functions too.
More than 200 shared twin rooms exist within W34. Each room accommodates up to four residents. Residents share a bathroom with a toilet and tiled shower. A wheelchair-accessible room is available on the first floor. The location is convenient. It’s close to the Student Activity Center and the University Mall.
Students here experience a stimulating and engaging environment. The staff works hard to foster a warm and friendly atmosphere. Students live learn and grow together. They participate in formal and informal activities. These include academic talks High Table Dinners and extracurricular activities.
In 2019 a group of students from Cheong Kun Lun College went on a Silk Road study trip. They collaborated with students from Lanzhou University. The trip was part of a project to give Macao and Hong Kong students experiential learning opportunities. The students explored various sites along the Silk Road experiencing Chinese culture and history firsthand.
Cheong Kun Lun College is more than just a place to study. It’s a community. It’s a place to learn grow and build friendships. It reflects the generosity of the Cheong family and the commitment to education. It’s a significant part of the University of Macau’s residential college system. It is a home away from home for many students.
