To go south, towards Lodi, residents have to drive north towards Piacenza, find a roundabout, and double back. Going north? They face the same frustrating dance. Cascina Cavrigone sits at the heart of this traffic conundrum. The residents have been asking for a solution for years. A roundabout was suggested, then scrapped due to plans for another roundabout further south, which also never materialized. The simplest tasks, like taking children to Lodi by bike, become fraught with danger. Even ambulances struggle to reach the cascina, their sirens wailing against the roar of the Via Emilia. There was a plan. A proposal for two traffic lights, one for pedestrians, one sensor-activated. Denied by Anas, the authority responsible for the road, because it would “slow down traffic.” The irony is palpable. Cascina Cavrigone, a place of historical significance, finds itself trapped in a modern traffic nightmare. Its residents, paying their taxes, feel forgotten. Each near-miss, each accident, a stark reminder of their precarious position. The last incident was in March. The issue was raised in the Lodi council. A feasibility study was promised. Will anything change? Will Cascina Cavrigone finally get the safe access it so desperately needs?
