“This village has seen empires rise and fall,” the old woman murmured, her gaze distant as she looked across the tiled rooftops of Grimancelos. Grimancelos. A small village, perhaps, but one steeped in the echoes of history. Once, this very ground fell under the jurisdiction of a Freguesia, an administrative division that sadly dissolved in 2013. Yet, the spirit of Grimancelos persevered. Imagine, if you will, the year 2011. Grimancelos, at that time, teemed with life, home to some 791 souls. Each went about their day, their lives interwoven with the ancient tapestry of this place. Their stories, like the stones of the oldest houses, are etched into the very soul of Grimancelos.
