Can a building whisper tales of transformation? This unassuming structure, the Neihu Xianmin Office Conference Room, has witnessed the ebb and flow of history right here in Neihu. Today, it stands as a silent sentinel, a reminder of a bygone era. The Neihu Xianmin Office Conference Room, completed in 1930, wasn’t always a hub for community gatherings. It began as the heart of the local administration, echoing with the pronouncements of Japanese officials during their rule. In 1945, as Taiwan transitioned from Japanese rule, the conference room took on a new identity, becoming the “Neihu Zhongshan Hall.” It served as a place for celebrations and activities, a symbol of hope in a time of change. But the transformations didn’t end there. As Neihu evolved into a district of Taipei City in 1968, the building was renamed again, this time as the “Neihu District Office Public Hall.” Finally, in 1983, it was christened the “Neihu District Community Activity Center,” the name it carries to this day. The building’s architecture reflects the architectural style of its birth year, 1930. Reinforced concrete, brown tile accents, and exposed brickwork create a visually appealing façade. Step inside, and you’ll discover a spacious hall, large enough to accommodate 200 people. Look up and marvel at the expansive truss structure that allows for such a generous space. The Neihu Xianmin Office Conference Room is more than just a building. It’s a living testament to the passage of time, the resilience of a community, and the enduring power of transformation.
