Step inside this charming building, a beacon of creativity, and the magic of animation awaits! This is the Moscow Museum of Animation, a place that brings the world of cartoons to life. It is the first and only museum of its kind in Russia, opened in 2006.

The museum tells the story of the Soviet era, the golden age of Russian animation. It was born from the generosity of the Soyuzmultfilm studio. Their iconic animated films, like “Cheburashka” and “Winnie-the-Pooh,” are household names in Russia and beyond. You’ll find original artwork, puppets, costumes, and even old equipment used to create these beloved characters. It’s like walking onto the set of your favorite films, and you can practically hear the voice actors’ lines echoing through the halls.

Beyond the Russian animation classics, there’s a whole section dedicated to international animation. This section is an exciting mix of animation from around the globe. This includes the Nickelodeon channel, which shows off beloved characters like SpongeBob SquarePants, Avatar, and Dora the Explorer.

Remember you can also visit the Experimental Cartoon Workshop. Here, you’ll get hands-on experience with the magic of animation. The museum currently houses over 5,000 items, with even more treasures tucked away in the archives. So, let your imagination run wild, and rediscover the child in yourself at the Moscow Museum of Animation!
